FAQ

WHAT IS THE COLD MOUNTAIN MUSIC FESTIVAL?

The Cold Mountain Music Festival is an annual event benefiting Lake Logan – the Retreat Center, Camp Henry, and the Outdoor School. Lake Logan is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of WNC

WHAT ARE YOUR COVID PROTOCOLS RESTRICTIONS?

Guidance for COVID-19 is fluid, so it is hard to say what our protocols for COVID-19 will be. We intend to follow guidance from the CDC and the Diocese of Western North Carolina. You can read Lake Logan’s current COVID-19 protocols here. Please understand these could change based on the conditions at the time of the Festival.

WHEN WILL YOU ANNOUNCE THE LINE-UP?

We hope to announce the Festival Lineup on April 1, 2023.

WHERE AND WHAT IS LAKE LOGAN?

Located in Haywood County in a pristine valley near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Logan is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. The Retreat Center is open year-round to host all types of events, groups, and individuals for retreat, rest, renewal, and recreation. Camp Henry is a summer camp program for children, youth, and families. And the Outdoor School offers a year-round outdoor education program for learners of all ages.

The 300-acre property is adjacent to the Shining Rock Wilderness Area of Pisgah National Forest, featuring a mile-long lake fed by the West Fork of the Pigeon River. The lake is surrounded by forested and open land, a wide array of historic buildings with 86 cabin beds and 80 dorm-style beds, plenty of places to gather indoors and out, and five primitive campsites. Lake Logan is often described as “a thin place,” where visitors experience the serenity of God’s glorious gifts. All are welcome to this special place, where the power of nature’s bounty nourishes, restores, and rejuvenates.

HOW CAN I BUY TICKETS?

Tickets go on sale on December 1, 2022. Prices will go up when the lineup is announced and again at the gate.

ARE THERE LARGE GROUP RATES?

Yes! Purchase 15 or more tickets at one time for a discounted rate.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR MEDIA CREDENTIALS?

Email Lauri.

CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD ONCE I GET TO LAKE LOGAN?

Nope. Lake Logan has no cell phone service and very limited access to the internet – which we have to save for our vendors. Please plan to have a wonderful UNPLUGGED weekend at Cold Mountain Music Festival. We promise it’s one of the best parts.

IS CAMPING PERMITTED?

Yes! You can purchase your camping site when you purchase your ticket. Sites sell out so get yours early!

CAN I BRING MY RV?

A limited number of sites are available for your RV (30 feet and under). You’ll be able to purchase your RV site when you purchase your tickets. These will sell out quickly, so make plans to snag yours early.

IS HOUSING AVAILABLE?

Lake Logan has beautiful cabins, all of which include VIP access, free parking, breakfast Saturday and Sunday, and linens. Tickets are included. First choice of cabins goes to sponsors and previous cabin-holders and will be released to the public in February. Contact Jen to be placed on the cabin waiting list.

We also have hostel-style bunkhouse accommodations. Info is available here.

If you’d like information on housing off-site, please visit the Haywood County TDA.

IS THERE A SHUTTLE?

Unfortunately, we do not have a shuttle specifically for Cold Mountain this year.

WILL THE FESTIVAL HAVE FOOD AND BEVERAGES?

Yes. We will host several delicious food trucks along with beer and wine vendors. Please, no outside food or beverages.  Exception: those who have purchased a camping site may bring food that stays in the camping area.

For those camping, a pick-up Saturday breakfast and full Sunday breakfast are available at the dining hall. Reservations are required and can be made at the ticket website.

Saturday and Sunday breakfast is complimentary for those staying in cabins and dorms.

CAN I GET ONE OF THOSE AWESOME FESTIVAL T-SHIRTS?

Yes! T-shirts can be purchased on the ticket website by July 1 and picked up at the merch tent on the day of the Festival. If you have not let us know otherwise, pre-purchased T-shirts not picked up the day of the Festival will be re-sold starting at 8 PM with no refund. If you are unable to pick up your pre-sold T-shirt, please let us know as soon as possible.

A limited number of T-shirts will be available for purchase at the merch tent on the day of the Festival.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Please bring CASH (for parking, food, beverages, and merchandise); many vendors do not accept credit cards, and if the internet goes down – which it probably will – none of them will be able to. Feel free to bring lawn chairs, sunscreen, flashlights, and sturdy shoes sufficient for outdoor terrain.

WHAT SHOULD I LEAVE AT HOME?

No coolers, no outside food or beverages (except water), no fireworks, no weapons, no outside boats or paddle boards. Exception: Those who have purchased a camping site may bring food. Please leave it in the camping area.

Pop-up tents that block the view of other festival attendees will not be allowed.

ARE KIDS PERMITTED?

YES! This is a family-friendly event and we encourage you to bring children. In fact, kids ages 10 and younger get in free! There will be plenty of family-friendly activities led by our Camp Henry staff and volunteers. Children 12 and under should not be left unattended.

HOW ABOUT PETS?

Yes, your well-behaved dog is welcome at Lake Logan. There is an additional fee of $10 (cash) per animal which will be collected at the gate. You are responsible for the behavior of and cleaning up after your pet. Animals must remain on-leash. We reserve the right to require you to remove your pet from the property.

ARE OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINKS ALLOWED?

No. Except water.

Parking passes purchased online are $5. Parking day-of is $10 – CASH ONLY.

In exchange, they receive a Festival entry, a t-shirt to be worn while volunteering at the Festival, and water during their volunteer shift. Volunteers are responsible for their own vendor food and alcohol purchases at the Festival. Volunteers are required to attend one of three training sessions that will take place in July. Volunteer applications are available here.
